Are Drawing Tablets Hard To Use
Technology really changes many traditions. Technology really changes the way we do things and make our lives much easier and comfortable. One of the great things about using a digital drawing tablet is that it saves paper. It is green. Helps save the environment. Less trees that we need to cut down. That being said I dont think that people are going to stop drawing with pen and pencil or stop coloring with real paints.
Technology only gives us more options. Digital drawing tablets gives an artist more ways to create art with less tools. If you are reading this then I am assuming that you already know how to draw somewhat and are now wondering, "are drawing tablets hard to use?"
"Should I go for the drawing tablets with a screen or without a screen?"
The most important thing that you have to keep in mind is that this is a tool. The tool does not make you are better artist, it only makes your job a little easier. The tool does not improve your art work. If your art is awful then the drawing tablet is not going to make it better. The world is using more and more digital tools to improve our work flow.
There are several things your need to use a drawing tablet and we are going to talk about them right now. So lets go.
Drawing Tablet Screen VS No Screen
There are two types of drawing tablets. Digital screen tablets which are the much newer ones and then there are no screen digital tablets which are the original ones. They are made for the same purpose but they differ in price and the learning curve needed to use them. Some people wonder, "why are digital drawing tablets so hard to use." It is not that they are hard to use but rather, because you are using a computer and usually the Photoshop software, you have to learn the technical stuff and apply your artistic skills to it. Usually people that are not technologically savvy hate these devices.
The truth is that you have to learn both. The traditional way of drawing and painting and the digital way of drawing. It gets easier like anything and the learning curve all depends on how much time and effort the person is willing to put. Honestly, if you have used softwares like Photoshop before then you wont have much problem on using a digital drawing tablet.
Digital Tablets with no screen
Digital tablets with no screens are a bit harder because you have to anticipate where you are going to draw on the screen. These requires more practice to use the tool because of the hand eye coordination. Not much room to draw sometimes so you will need a bigger tablet to get enough space for strokes. The smaller the tablet the more difficult it is to draw. To get smooth arm movement you need a bigger tablet.
Digital Screen Tablet
Are drawing tablets with screens better? Your damn right they are.
Digital screen tablets imitate pen and paper and is more comfortable. Depending on your device there could be a bit of a delay on the lines created on the screen however, it is a lot less work than the no screen tablet. Feels more like drawing and you have a lot more control. The digital screen drawing tablet takes home the gold. Many manga artist and comic book artist use it. Drawing tablets with screens are easier to use and there is less of a learning curve. Its just a matter of set up and selecting and customizing your working tools on the software.

Here at Andy Art TV we recommend that you get a digital screen tablet for faster and better use. Avoid the frustration that comes with a no screen tablet.
One of the ways to speed up the learning curve is to learn how to use Photoshop. Which by the way, you don't need to become a Photoshop master but just learn the basics. Creating layers. Using the selection tool. Using the bucket and brush tool. Using the pen tool. Creating gradients in Photoshop. You get the deal. Most of the time you are going to be using Photoshop (any other image editing software is usually a rip off of Photoshop).
Recommended Digital Tablets
These are the recommended digital tablets with screen display.
XP-PEN Artist22E Pro
More affordable than the Wacom Cintiq tablet. As you can see it has a lot of space at 21 inches. Has adjustable buttons to zoom in and out and change the size of the pen. It is compatible wit the old and new window versions as well as Apple Computers. The digital pen has a stand. It is rechargeable. The key pads are also programmer so that you can change them to your liking.
Wacom Cintiq
This one is a 16 inch digital tablet. Wacom is one of the leading brands in digital drawing tablets. One of the main complains about this tablet is that it is 16 inches but the screen really is like 13 inches. So its smaller. There are no custom buttons on it like the XP-Pen but once you connect it to the computer, you can simply use the commands on the keyboard. It works with many softwares other than Photoshop. It works with Illustrator, AutoDesk, Clip studio.
GAOMON PD1560
This is more affordable than the Wacom Cintiq and the Xp-Pen. Do not worry. Just because it cost less does not decrease its value. It if 15 inches but the screen is like 13 to 12 inches. I am not sure why companies do that but it does have buttons where you can adjust your images and drawings to your liking. Works with many art softwares like Sketch book, Clip Studio and many more.
